Described by The Sunday Times as one of the ‘coolest UK hotels of the year’, Artist Residence, a boutique hotel in Pimlico marries eclectic, crafty décor with incredible service topped off with great prices [for London]… the perfect hotel in our mind!
Tucked away in Pimlico, just a short walk from Victoria, Belgravia and Sloane Square, AR is part of the next generation of boutique hotels. Small, with just eight bedrooms, the hotel boasts the bustling 64 Degrees Restaurant – created by chef owner Michael Bremner and A New York-inspired cocktail bar – 64 Below.
The name of the chain reflects the aesthetic of the hotel’s owners, Justin Salisbury and Charlotte Newey. Their Brighton venture was co-designed with artists and so all of their hotels are littered with a diverse range of urban, graphic and street art.
The third in this creative hotel chain [the other two are in Brighton and Penzance], the original building, a public house, dates back to 1852 and has been carefully restored over the last two years. The style is pared-down rustic – think exposed brick and natural wood. But it’s also homely with vintage leather club chairs to sink into, clever lighting and rich, vintage furnishings adding warmth and colour.
We were lucky enough to supply some products to the hotel, shop the look here.
