The IC guide to creating an effortless and beautiful New Year’s Eve party.
Our founder Sarah Coles’ top tip and party recipe for getting NYE ready..…
Sarah: To ease into the New Year after the Christmas indulgence I like to keep dishes simple but go big on presentation. Parmesan biscuits served on the side of a soup, a sprinkle of herbs or a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic can really give a finished touch to a dish. I love the recipes of Yotam Ottolenghi and a great dessert or sweet canapé staple for me is his fresh berry tart, so simple to make and full of colour, flavour and style. the end result will look patisserie bought!
Jules: My absolute favourite has to be a baked Vacherin with delicious breads to dip in. I also love the classics such as quails eggs, smoked salmon and horseradish toasts and of course pigs in blankets. All washed down with a divine Champagne cocktail.
Chloe: I once went to a super-chic party in Paris where they simply presented guests with a hunk of Parmesan and a whole leg of prosciutto. With this in mind I aim to keep any new year’s soiree easy and effortless. I’ll be opting for delicious British cheeses and charcuterie. Cocktail wise, I love the bitter sweet hit of a Negroni. Yum!
Charlie: My all-time favourite canapé is the perfect pairing of Manchego, Quince paste and Chorizo cut into tiny cubes and put on a cocktail stick – a bit like posh cheese and pineapple! For an easy desserts I love salted caramel and chocolate ganache pots, these can be made ahead of time and taste incredible.
BLACK AND BLUE
Navy and black is a pairing that the French have been wearing for years [so we’re told in the style tome ‘How to be Parisian [wherever you are]’ – so with this in mind we’ve created a NYE style edit which we hope will leave us looking effortlessly Parisian.
The Little Black Dress: we love the mix of textures on this Oasis version, demure but with a sense of fun in the skirt. If a dress isn’t for you we love the idea of slipping on a super-soft, slouchy cashmere sweater with a lace skirt [this Unique one is divine] or these culottes from Coast – just add black heels.
Boden’s bejewelled pumps are arguably the high-street shoe of the season and have graced the pages of every fashion editors Christmas wish list. Finally, when in doubt accessorise. These beautiful J.Crew earrings will add a little wow to a simple black shirt or dress and the Comptoir clutch will easily stash your party essentials. All you need is a flash of rouge on your lips [we love Nars Lady Danger and Mac’s Ruby Woo also] and slick of a deep navy lacquer on your nails and you’ll be party ready.
